Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo released in 1991 on Commodore 64, it's still available and playable with some tinkering. It's a classic platform caper, set in a licensed title, platform and TV cartoons themes and it was ported to the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and ZX Spectrum as well.

Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-DooSTORY / GAMEPLAY:
The heroic trio, Scooby Doo, Scrappy Doo and Shaggy, are enjoying a well earned break aboard the pleasure cruiser "BlueBell", away from the haunted houses, ghosts, villains, and mysteries. As Scooby lies dreaming Snacks, a menacing black shadow looms above. In a flash, the evil Baron Von Drak wicks the trembling Scooby and Shaggy from their sun loungers, carrying them far across the ocean to his lair, the "Isle of Sorrows". And so the adventure begins... Scrappy Doo must save the day and free uncle Scooby and Shaggy from the clutches of the evil Baron.
Scrappy need to go through nine levels, meeting a variety of nasties along the way, such as bouncing octopuses, mutant killer fishes, pirates, dinosaurs, cavemen, and long-armed yetis. Different items on each level will boost Scrappy's energy, while on every level there is a secret bonus area, but you need to find it yourself. Gameplay is not difficult; you just get carried away with high-speed running and jumping routine. Remember that Scrappy can jump onto some of his enemies heads to stun them. You can also get an extra life, by collecting 15 Scooby Snacks, and a couple of continues are available after the first stage, giving you a fair chance of getting to the end.
Unfortunately, it is dogged with some rather iffy collision detection, but as this works in your favor it doesn't harm the game. Not bad for short-term relaxing fun.

GRAPHICS / SOUND:
Graphics on the ST version are smooth, dazzling colorful and cartoony, but missing the multi-layered parallax scrolling along with some pretty neat backdrops here (compared to the Amiga version). This is of course due to the ST's hardware limitations, but still the game plays and looks pretty good. The sprites look right but the play has little basis in the cartoon reality from where it came.
On the other hand, it's a shame Hi-Tec couldn't fork out the extra dosh to use the proper theme tune, the in-game music you do get is appropriate enough, in a cheesy kind of way, or you can always have some sweetie cheap sound effects instead. Apparently, you can choose either music or sound effects.
